Update on Drunk Driving Crash at Endymion Parade

 

UPDATE: The NOPD's Traffic Fatality Team charged the driver Neilson Rizzuto with 22 new charges, 10 counts of first degree vehicular negligent injuring and 12 counts of vehicular negligent injuring.

 

Orginial Story

The NOPD is continuing their investigation into a drunk driving incident that occurred last night at the intersection of North Carrollton and Orleans Avenue.

Of the 28 victims reported at the scene: 21 patients transported by EMS with 7 declining EMS on scene.  Ages ranged from 1 year old to patients in their 50s.  At least 3 remained hospitalized overnight with moderate to serious injuries. There were no fatalities.

The driver in this incident, identified as Neilson Rizzuto (DOB: 12/26/1991), was arrested at the scene and later charged with two counts of first-degree negligent vehicular injuring, one count of hit-and-run driving causing serious injury and one count of reckless operation of a vehicle. The suspect was administered a Standard Field Sobriety test, which he failed. A breath alcohol test determined the suspect’s alcohol level was .232%--- nearly three times the legal limit. The investigation is ongoing.
