The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this afternoon (March 29, 2023) at the intersection of Lafreniere and Gibson streets that left one person dead.
At about 4:08 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject lying underneath the Interstate 610 overpass and found to have sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
