The NOPD has announced plans to begin using Small Unmanned Aircraft System technology (sUAS), commonly referred to as drone technology, that will assist the agency as both a force multiplier and a crime-fighting tool.

The department will also be seeking public input as policy for use of this technology is being drafted and will also host an upcoming public event to demonstrate the technology.

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Ayshaun L. Canady (pictured, DOB: 12/28/1994) in the investigation of an auto theft.

The NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in locating a car taken during an armed robbery in the 2800 block of North Roman Street on November 19, 2023.

Joined by family members, former NOPD colleagues, current NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, Tunnel to Towers Foundation representatives and construction representatives, retired NOPD Officer Andres Gonzalez cut the ribbon at his Metairie home to signify completion of a renovation by Tunnel to Towers that upgraded Gonzalez’s home with smart technology. T2T also paid off Gonzalez’ mortgage.

The NOPD is seeking assistance in locating a vehicle of interest in the ongoing investigation of a double homicide that occurred on May 12, 2023, in the 1000 block of North Claiborne, as well as the occupant(s) of the vehicle at the time of the incident.
